Danny is an award-winning lawyer with experience advising investments in the life sciences sector, including advising biotech and healthcare tech start-ups, as well as pharmaceutical companies, on M&A, fund raising transactions and corporate compliance matters.
Having served as in-house counsel and company secretary of one of the major Chinese financial groups, and as a software engineer by training, Danny understands the needs of clients particularly in the financial services and technology sectors – he is able to offer not only sound legal advice but also practical solutions to achieve commercial objectives.
Danny's life sciences experience includes:
- Advising New York-listed Medtronic Inc. in respect of its strategic investment in Hong Kong-listed LifeTech Scientific, involving:
(i) an acquisition of shares from the substantial shareholders of LifeTech; and
(ii) a subscription of two-tranche convertible notes issued by LifeTech which upon completion would increase Medtronic’s interest in LifeTech to over 51%
- Advising a Chinese healthcare tech company in respect of its strategic alliance with leading insurance service providers based in Europe.
- Advising a Chinese venture capital fund in respect of its investments in healthcare tech start-ups outside of Mainland China
